Forced to take the intercontinental trip to Los Angeles by train, and determined to chronicle his adventure, disillusioned journalist Tom Langdon finds himself westbound with a variety of characters. While all passengers on the Christmas train appear to be headed for the same destination, Tom has no idea that the rugged locomotives taking him across America will instead detour straight into his heart.
emThe Christmas Train/em, in short Strong cast, lame plot. I did enjoy those onscreen, but I just didnt find any entertainment with the story - which, due to the ending (which I did see coming, but was hoping I was wrong), only gets less and less watchable. If you are wanting an Xmas train film, much better ones are out there - Im looking at you, emThe Polar Express/em or even emLast Train to Christmas/em. Kimberly Williams-Paisley gives a positive showing, Id say this is the best Ive seen from her in the Hallmark world thus far. Dermot Mulroney and Danny Glover are good as well, though the latters character is very dull. Joan Cusack is involved too. The support cast are decent too, usually in these sorta films the acting level is relatively low but here its solid. Unfortunately for those mentioned, the plot they are portraying just didnt hold my attention and I was rather bored; even if it isnt anything wholly bad, per se.
